Alex McDonald (B Bus) is Executive Director of the Wise Foundation and Director at Adidem group Australia. Alex is active in assisting the development of social & micro business for marginalised & indigenous peoples within Australian and South Pacific. He is an invited member of the I-20 indigenous roundtable and currently working on the development and management of a range of social businesses within Australia.
He is past director and chief executive of The Big Issue Australia, and past national co-ordinator for the commonwealth secretariat in the Australasian region. Alex was instrumental in the development of Cape York partnerships with Westpac, BCG and Balkanu. Alex has assisted organisations such as Origin energy, Santos, Rio Tinto, BP and numerous government agencies develop and implement community engagement strategies.
Alex has a strong interest in social franchising and the use of innovative business structures to address social issues.
At a personal level Alex is interested in environmental sustainability and modern farming practice.
