Biography

Brian is a Program Manager with Google Earth Outreach, a team dedicated to leveraging and developing Google's infrastructure to address global environmental, health, & humanitarian issues through partnerships with nonprofits, education and research institutions. His most recent project, Global Fishing Watch, aims to give citizens and decision makers a simple, online platform to the visualize, track and share information about fishing activity worldwide to better inform sustainable practices. Previously he managed digital divide programs in West Africa, held technical development positions, worked as a strategy and management consultant, and focused on Strategic Partnerships at Google. Brian holds a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Systems Engineering & Telecommunications. His love of technology is tempered with the opposing and complementary need to spend time in nature. Various attempts to forage and live off the land in survival situations have been met with mixed success but were always humbling, fun, and occasionally left him a bit peckish!
