Biography

Kelo lives and works in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is co-founder of the design and branding consultancy Gamatong Design. She is a senior TEDxAmbassador for Sub-Saharan Africa and holds the licenses for TEDxJohannesburg. She is a TED Fellow and 2018 Skoll World Forum Fellow. Kelo was Co-host of TEDGlobal 2017. She started her career as a banker with FNB, one of South Africa’s major banks. After that, she went on to study and work in Germany. On her return home, she initially focused on international development work before settling in the world of design and entrepreneurship. She is a founding member of the Mandela Poster Project, a global design initiative. She is also a trustee of Orange Corners, a Dutch-inspired incubator. Kelo holds a Degree in Finance and Business Administration, and a post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration, both from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. She is an alumnus of Singularity University, the Silicon Valley-based institution focusing on exponential technologies.
