Senior Specialist, Opportunities for the Majority Initiative, Inter-American Development Bank

Biography

Lourdes Gallardo is a Senior Specialist at the Opportunities for the Majority Initiative, at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). She leads the Research/Knowledge, Technical Cooperation, Partnerships and Communication activities of the department. Prior to taking these responsibilities, she was an Investment Officer where using loans, partial credit guarantees, and grant resources, she identified and structured financing for Base of the Pyramid business models using market-based principles.

During her career at the IDB, she has previously worked at the Office of Evaluation and Oversight and at the Institute for Social Development. Lourdes was selected for IDB’s prestigious Young Professional Program. Before joining the IDB, she worked for the World Bank and for the Asian Development Bank. She earned her B.A. in Economics, M.P.A. and M.Sc. in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University.
