Biography

Melinda Ward is Chief Content Officer for Public Radio International (PRI). PRI is a global non-profit media company focused on the intersection of journalism and engagement to affect positive change in people’s lives. We create a more informed, empathetic and connected world by sharing powerful stories, encouraging exploration, connecting people and cultures, and creating opportunities to help people take informed action on stories that inspire them. Its mission is to serve audiences as a distinctive content source for information, insights and cultural experiences essential to living in our diverse, interconnected world.

Melinda oversees a portfolio of radio programs, podcasts and websites that include two PRI produced daily news programs, The World and The Takeaway. We are currently focused on several multimedia content initiatives looking at issues of gender equity worldwide, international security, environment, immigration, religion.

Prior to coming to PRI in 1972, Melinda was Director of Children's and Cultural Programming at PBS. She has run film and education programs at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
