Michael Jenkins is the founding President of Forest Trends. Its mission is to maintain, restore, and enhance forests and connected natural ecosystems, by promoting the development of economic tools that incorporate the values of ecosystem services and products, to make markets for carbon, biodiversity, and water work for conservation and sustainability, as well as provide benefits to local communities and other stewards of our natural resources. It supports initiatives in Latin America, Asia, & Africa, in partnership with local and regional institutions. Previously, Michael was a Senior Forestry Advisor to the World Bank and Associate Director for the Environment at the MacArthur Foundation. Michael also worked with the USAID’s Agroforestry Outreach Program in Haiti, as well as with the Peace Corps in Paraguay working in agriculture, apiculture and forestry projects. His field experience includes forestry projects in Brazil and the Dominican Republic. Michael has travelled extensively and speaks several languages.
