Biography

Phyu Hninn Nyein currently leads Yetagon Farm Advisory Business Unit at Proximity Designs, a social enterprise working to improve the income and resilience of rural smallholder farmers in Myanmar. Hninn's business unit provides these smallholders with advisory and diagnostics services that promote best-fit and climate-smart farming knowledge through diverse set of channels from technique dissemination at grass root levels to digital platforms. Previously, Hninn led the Knowledge and Social Impact Team at Proximity, which manages and analyzes Proximity's customer database including 500,000 farming households and conduct socio-economic impact assessments and user research projects.
As a professional, she has also worked in the United States in the field of environmental conservation and statistical genetics. In 2012, Hninn returned to Myanmar and joined Proximity Designs. Hninn received her Bachelor degrees in Biology and Mathematics from Bard College at Simon's Rock, her Masters degree in Biostatistics from Boston University and her Post-Graduate Diploma degree in Strategy and Innovation from the University of Oxford. Outside of her work, Hninn enjoys ballroom dancing and is an avid blogger at her blog “Dancing with Data.
