Biography

Seán Coughlan is co-founder and chief executive of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, a organisation established to fund and support Ireland’s highest potential social entrepreneurs.

Seán’s previous experience includes that of product manager, entrepreneur, teacher and researcher having spent time working and studying in Ireland, Portugal and Turkey.

Seán also holds a number of other board and advisory positions including: Chairperson of The Wheel (the co-ordinating body for the community and voluntary sector in Ireland), Treasurer of the European Venture Philanthropy Association, member of the Enterprise Advisory Board of Dublin City University and member of the Advisory Group of the Ryan Academy for Entrepreneurship.

Seán holds a degree in Theoretical Physics and has completed executive education programmes in Harvard Business School, INSEAD and the Irish Management Institute and is a winner of the Captain Cathal Ryan Scholarship for Social Entrepreneurship.
