Musician, Arcade Fire
Will Butler is a member of the band Arcade Fire, one of the most critically respected bands of the last decade. Their album The Suburbs received the 2011 Grammy Award for Album of the Year. In 2017, they will release their 5th album and headline shows and festivals worldwide.
For over a decade now, Arcade Fire have worked with the organization Partners in Health, both spreading the word about their work and raising funds. Since 2006, one dollar (or euro, or pound) from every ticket sold to an Arcade Fire show has gone to Partners in Health or other organizations working in Haiti. Recently, the band helped start the organization Plus One, which is both expanding the dollar-per-ticket fundraising model to other bands and industries, and exploring different ways artistic communities can best come together to make real change in the world.
Working with Arcade Fire, Will received an Oscar nomination for Best Score for the Spike Jonze movie Her (2013). He also releases music under his own name. Will is currently pursuing a master's degree in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
