Introducing the Skoll World Forum Fellowship

April 10, 2018

By Claire Wathen - Skoll Foundation

I am thrilled to announce the Skoll World Forum Fellowship in partnership with Johnson & Johnson. A platform for global voices, the inaugural Fellow cohort includes 50 incredible local leaders primarily from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The 2018 Forum Fellows embody the systemic change ethos of our community. Fellows exemplify this year’s theme of The Power of Proximity – whether working on the front lines of health delivery, crafting immersive stories through film, or utilizing emerging technologies in education and conservation efforts.

The Fellows bring new perspectives into this year’s community of 1,200 delegates comprised of entrepreneurs and innovators. “We sought out the leaders who have emerged from their own communities as powerful forces for change,” Jessica Fleuti, Skoll World Forum Curator, described in her reflection on Proximity.

Within the Fellowship, we have sponsored Vanderbilt MBA student Binet Ibrahim as the first Nii Amar Amarfio Scholar. Nii was a fiercely passionate, joyful leader, committed to finding common solutions to persistent problems. Nii’s legacy from his time with us at the Skoll Foundation will continue to inspire us to authentically connect with one another and be better leaders in our own communities.

Meet the 2018 Skoll World Forum Fellows here.

A special thanks to our partner, Johnson & Johnson, and fellow nominator organizations including African Leadership Group, ANDE, Ashoka, Aspen Global Leaders Network, Autodesk Foundation, Catholic Relief Services, Harambe, King Baudoin Foundation, Singularity University Ventures, Segal Family Foundation, TED Conferences, and Turner Center for Social Ventures at Vanderbilt University.
