Aly Rahim

Biography

Aly Rahim is Assistant to the President of the World Bank Group, serving as focal point for key practices, themes and geographic areas for the executive office. He is an international development and foreign affairs professional with over twelve years of experience in low-income countries, with a focus on fragile/conflict-affected environments, war-to-peace transitions and community driven finance for infrastructure and services as a professional staff member in the multilateral and government spheres. He was most recently, a World Bank senior sector specialist and Task Team Leader of IDA and IBRD lending and trust fund financed projects and sector analytic and advisory initiatives, most recently focused on the Caucasus and Central Asia. Aly has experience in governmental, non-governmental, and multilateral institution settings.

Aly has also worked in the Bank's South Asia and Africa regions. He joined the World Bank through its Young Professionals Program. Aly previously served in the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs as a foreign service officer and specialist in post-conflict reconstruction for Sudan and subsequently Afghanistan; he joined the Government of Canada through its Recruitment of Policy Leaders program. Aly holds a Master's degree from Georgetown's School of Foreign Service, and a Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth.
