Biography

Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar is a pioneer of super-speciality chest-surgery in India and Vascular Robotic-Surgery in Asia. He received his education from India’s premier medical college, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (A.I.I.M.S.), where he spent 30 years of his career. Currently, he is the Chairman - Centre for Chest Surgery and Director –Institute of Robotic Surgery at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. Perturbed to see the increasing incidence of Black Spots on lungs (even in teenagers) and changing demography of type of Lung Cancer Patients that he treats, he founded Lung Care Foundation to advocate for clean air and improve lung health services in India. Dr. Arvind was also called to World Health Organizations’ headquarter in Geneva for giving a keynote address in the first meeting on Air Pollution and Health. Dr. Kumar was the President of the Association of Surgeons of India in 2019. He has also been conferred Dr. B.C. Roy Award for “Eminent Medical Person” by Hon’ble President of India. He is also a Clean Air Champion with Every Breath Matters Campaign along with Leonardo Di Caprio, Tedros Adhanom, Greta Thunberg and Ms. Christiana Figueres.
