Biography

Jitinder Kohli is a Director in Monitor Deloitte’s public sector practice. He is expert in how a stronger focus on evidence, evaluation and performance can help agencies, bureau and programs improve impact. In addition, he brings deep expertise on the non-profit sector. He wrote one of the first reports in the US that referred to Social Impact Bonds, and has been a leading advisor to agencies and the non-profit sector as the concept has taken root in the US. He has published widely on government reform including the use of evidence and how to promote innovation across social policy. Until last summer, he led the Doing What Works project at the Center for American Progress focused on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of federal government. Before moving to Washington in late 2009, he served as senior official in the British government including leading the unit responsible for the government’s relationship with the non-profit sector. He has also served in the British Cabinet Office, Treasury, Home Office and Business department.
