International Director Community Fair Trade, The Body Shop
Dame Anita Roddick, the late Founder of The Body Shop, believed that ‘Trade not Aid’ could be an effective way to alleviate poverty. This vision led to our pioneering Community Fair Trade (CFT) programme that launched over 26 years ago.
Mark Davis oversees the CFT programme, which sources high quality products through long-term direct relationships with small-scale suppliers in 21 countries, helping over 320,000 people earn a sustainable income.
Mark starting at The Body Shop in 2004 as a Senior Buyer for Community Fair Trade, in 2008 he was appointed Head of Innovative Natural Raw Materials in L’Oreal Advanced Research, before returning to The Body Shop, in 201,1 to head the Community Fair Trade programme.
Prior to joining The Body Shop, Mark worked for six years in the finance sector specialising in venture capital in South America and Asia. In 2009 he took this experience to the development sector, working on social businesses and micro finance projects.
