As a Senior Partner on the Investment Team, Raymond manages a team of Investment Directors and Associates and develops and structures both risk capital investments and grants to support innovative organizations striving to create measurable large scale impact in the developing world.
Previously, Raymond was a Principal on the Innovation Investment team at the Skoll Foundation. At Skoll, Raymond developed the investment strategy and process for making dispassionate evidence-based investments into social entrepreneurs that had the greatest amount of impact evidence and were the closest to driving large-scale change. While at Skoll, Raymond invested in African, Asian and Latin American developing countries and built a portfolio of grants, equity investments, loans and guarantees. Through his investments, Raymond supported social entrepreneurs within the agriculture, education, healthcare and livelihoods sectors. In addition to Raymond’s investment role at Skoll, he also managed the foundation’s partnerships with development agencies and foreign governments.
Prior to joining Skoll, Raymond was a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where he initially served within the USAID India Mission. During his time in India, Raymond managed an early-stage funding program, the Millennium Alliance, which focused on supporting Indian social entrepreneurs. Before his time with USAID, Raymond worked within the equities department at Calvert Investments, one of the largest socially responsible investment funds in the world. Raymond holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctor from Howard University.He is professionally proficient in French, has a working knowledge of Vietnamese, and is a licensed member of the New York Bar Association.
