Tom Ravenscroft

Founder and CEO, Enabling Enterprise

Biography

After completing his degree at the University of Oxford, Tom taught business and enterprise in Hackney, East London through the Teach First programme. This experience convinced him that there was a fundamental gap in what children and young people were getting out of their education.

As a result, in 2009 he founded Enabling Enterprise, a social enterprise, to ensure students develop the broader enterprise skills, experiences of the working world and aspirations that they need to be successful, alongside good qualifications.

Now in its seventh year, Enabling Enterprise is working with over 80,000 students across London, Manchester and Birmingham. This is made possible through the support of 100 top businesses, including UBS, PwC, Oliver Wyman and many more.

Tom's work has been recognised with the Teach First Excellence Award, and he was also the 2009 UK Entrepreneurship Teacher of the Year. In 2014, Enabling Enterprise won Partnership of the Year in the Education Investor awards, recognising the unique classroom contribution of this school and business partnership to transforming students’ enterprise and employability skills.
